“I have un-natural red hair. If I bleached it white, would it turn it ginger?”

Colouring red hair to blonde isn’t a problem as such. However, there are some very important guidelines to follow:

Firstly, to ensure your safety and to get the highest quality results, you must have your hair coloured in a professional hair salon.

Before any chemical process is carried out, you also must have a patch test. This safeguards the salon and client by making sure there won’t be a reaction from the chemicals when the bleach is applied. The patch test is carried out 72 hours before the appointment and it is usually applied behind the client’s ear, where the skin is sensitive but the patch can easily be hidden should problems occur.

Also, a hair strand test has to be carried out to ensure that the hair is strong enough, and also to make sure that the client has no other chemicals or colour on the hair.

Ideally, with all of my experience, woven bleach highlights would be a fantastic way to introduce a client to going lighter.
