Hair Q&A: Can I dye my hair if I have alopecia?

“I suffered alocepia a while ago and it’s grown half back, can I still dye my hair?”

Alocepia is such an unpleasent experience so colouring your hair can be a real up-lifter.

There is nothing to keep someone with alopecia from dying their hair; just get your stylist to carry out a strand test first, to test the hair strength. This is something we recommend for all clients, but for alopecia clients even moreso. The health of your existing hair should take priority so it’s essential that this test is carried out to make sure your hair can handle the dye chemicals.
